Silk is a natural fibre that we have been working with for some years now, but we are very pleased to introduce this soft silk yarn. The raising of the silk worms and handspinning of the fibres all takes place within Nepal through an organisation we are delighted to support. The organisation we work with was established to promote Nepalese silk and also uplift the economic status of the many women employed throughout various regions of Nepal.

I bought a ball of this beautiful yarn at the Friday Totnes market along with small balls of the hemp, nettle and linen to knit up samples. Natural fibres and the production, welfare for the animals and fair trade of the producers is important to me and so many handknitters, one of the reasons we love to hand knit. I’m looking forward to handling these and see how they turn out. Then on to a garment or to! Will post how I get on.
