This striking pendant has been made from a polished piece of Amethyst. With a bead that slides along the cord, it is possible to adjust the height of the pendant around your neck. Beautifully encased using macrame and then corded. Both ends of the cord have been decorated with gemstones.
Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz and has a long history of use dating back to the ancient Egyptians. The Romans and Greeks believed it protected the owner from drunkeness whereas medieval European soldiers wore amethyst for protection in battle as it was believed to heal and maintain cool headedness. Amethyst is the birthstone for February.
